Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

So I just found out today, belatedly it seems, that one of my favor-
ite blogspot bloggers, Porkchop, was dooced and has taken down
her site. NO NO NO! I am totally upset. I loved to read Pork-
chop! Come back, Come back! Please, we miss you, and staring
at all of that blank white page on your website CAN'T be good
for the human eyeball...

Getting dooced seems to be happening at an alarming rate these days. If you can't bitch about your job in your blog, then where CAN you bitch about it?

Or even if you're not bitching about the job, where can you bitch about the customers or coworkers?

It really is an outrage. I hope your friend comes back. If that happened to me, I'd continue ranting about my (former) place of employment. At that point, I don't think it would matter.

Yet another way employers are trying to enslave people. The Froggers!

Why is her site down? Can't she still run it from home? She ought to really trash their asses now.

Who knows, maybe they threatened her with legal action or something, I don't know the whole story, just that she was fired because of her blog and that a wonferful and outrageously funny blog is unfortunately down for the count.

If you google purewhitemeat and blogspot you might be able to pull up some cached archives.

Damn the man for holding us down. That sucks about your friend's blog. Hopefully she can do it from home or something.

I agree with notyourtyp...

I would double the bitching about the former employer, maybe even think of ways to be a whistleblower.

Did you consider that maybe your precious squinty Gilbert is using his Illuminati connections to shut down the sites you visit to monopolize your attention? Hmmm?

Perhaps I should bolster the security on my site ... or at least make a positive reference to Gilbert in a forthcoming post--look for it!

That's too bad. I guess people need to be more careful on what they write. I often wonder how they find out about people's blogs? I mean, I would not list were I am located and not have my name anywhere etc. And, not blog while working either.

Blogdreamz, I think what happens is that people tell one or more people at work whom they trust and then said person or persons tell others who arent so trustworthy and someone snitches.

That said, I think it sucks that you CANT talk about work if you don't list specific names or where you're employed. There is a huge difference between firing someone because the company has been given a bad rep and has been damaged due to being mentioned in someone's blog and firing someone because someone at work got their feelings hurt.

If the company is not in any way, shape or form identified to the outside world then I just don't see a legitimate reason for firing someone for what they write in their personal blog after hours.

And in the case of porkchop, she NEVER identified where specifically she worked that I recall. She sold cars and that's all we knew. Now, I can't see how THAT was any threat to her company's further health and prosperity.

In fact, HAD I known which car dealership it was, I would have been MORE likely to buy a car there because she was so fucking funny. Even in writing about their absurdities, she made them, her co-workers, seem more human. It was kind of like reading a sitcom. None of her comments about them were vicious. In fact, she always laughed about and poked fun at herself most of all. Apparently, the management at her former employment missed all that.

But management is frequently very... you know. Unimaginative.

Someday, hopefully soon, purewhitemeat might come back. Until then? Check out andrewelaine.blogspot.com.

What happened was the one person who I work with, who knew about my blog, who happened to be dating my sister, had me bookmarked. Someone went through his computer. This paticular someone has a vendetta against me.

Rumor has it that management printed out the entire thing. Which I think has to be false considering I had over two years worth there.

Even though everything I wrote was true, some people don't like being shown up as ass-grabbing maggots.

I will be back. But I will be more careful concealing my identity. Maybe. Or maybe I will just get a REALLY DIFFERENT JOB.

But. Thank you Sydney. You have no idea how much that meant to me.

P.S. I wasn't fired. Just very, very close to it.

Porkchop, I'm glad you're still around. You have one of the funniest blogs I've ever read.
I'll keep up with you at andrewelaine. Glad you're more or less ok. And here's to less suckiness in your future.
